The blind went up at 6 a.m. and we had views of the South Arm Beach area as we headed north into the main Harbour.
Kelly was off to get coffee as I looked at the surrounding area of the ship terminal. As our plans have changed here, we will look into other options for the day.
We watched the docking process and even received a wave from Captain Costas as we are right under the starboard wing of the bridge.
The ship was secured by 8 a.m. and passengers started streaming off right away. We suspected excursion participants etc. are heading off for their respective tours.
We went up and had breakfast then returned to the cabin to get the backpack and umbrellas as the weather is a cool 16 c with rain threatening.
Off the ship and immediately to the merchant stalls in the cruise port! I will simply say that our grandchildren are going to be spoiled!! Oh look… wool! Not just any wool.. it’s New Zealand wool so this means when we get to NZ later in the cruise we will not have to buy any wool! Brilliant!
We walked up Campbell Street to the Quarter Inch Quilt Shop so Kelly could have a look around. Lots of nice buildings along the way.
Next we walked back towards the ship and made several stops along the way. Grabbed a geocache on Brisbane Street, stopped at Toy World, saw some neat houses and strolled the pedestrian shopping area. Kelly also stopped to purchased her perfume she had been looking at. It was “on sale” and she quickly pointed out how much she saved over the ship’s cost for the same item.
Lunch was at Mures Upper Deck and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the upstairs restaurant If you are ever visiting.
After lunch we walked the pier area and grabbed another geocache. We re-boarded the ship at 2:30 p.m. and got changed as it was pool time! We headed up to the solarium and enjoyed a dip in the pool and a nice stretch out on a lounge chair. BTW every chair has a fresh towel on it so you are ready to go!
We headed back to the cabin to prepare for Music and Mixology in the Club. The music was going and the bartender from the Martini Bar was throwing jiggers and pouring drinks in a fantastic display of juggling. Once each drink was made, we all received a sampler. He did this three times making a different drink each time. We spotted Avis & George and joined them right up front.
Off to the Martini Bar to continue happy hour and then to Tuscan for dinner. All very good as we told stories of our youth, bad driving experiences, hotel management horror stories and renovations :-)
We wandered around the ship and noticed the casino had not opened yet due to legal rules etc. so we pulled the pin and headed for the cabin. Finished up the blog and then hit the pillow.
