Wednesday -Sydney #2

Up at 5 a.m to watch the ship slip into its dock. Nice pictures of the Governor’s House along with the Sidney Harbour Bridge. Once dock we closed up the blind and went back to bed until 8.

Up again and watched the people disembarking with their luggage from our vantage point in the stateroom. One of the Facebook cruisers launched his drone and caught this great shot of the ship in Sydney Harbour.

Great drone shot!

We loaded our backpacks and headed down to the Fine Cut Steakhouse to pick up our new sea pass cards. Off the ship at 9. a.m. via the gangway and we immediately headed up the street to grab a flat white! (Coffee)

Temps are 20°c with a forecast of 27°c so shorts are in order for sure.

We walked over to George Street and grabbed the coffee and a croissant and then headed to the ferry area. We located the 9:30 Manly Ferry on Wharf 3 and jumped on using the tap on feature. This makes life so easy!  We enjoyed the 25 minute ride over.

We walked off the ferry and I quickly found a geocache located right outside by the bus stop. Unfortunately there were a lot of people around so I decided to grab it on the way back. We headed up the main pedestrian street called the Corso and stopped at the Manly Municipal Council building for a look see.

The walk took us towards the beach area and Kelly stopped in several shops along the way in a hunt for a few particular items. I decided to leave her to it and continued on to the beach area where a couple more geocaches had been hidden. I quickly found them and rejoined Kelly. She was successful in her quest so we walked the beach northbound to the end eventually grabbing one final geocache at the end.

The sun had come out and it was getting nice and warm so we decide to walk back towards the ferry with a stop at Four Pines Brewing. As we left the beach area, the horn sounded and they made a public announcement that people should leave the water. This was new to us but we suspected a shark had been spotted along the beach somewhere.  Everyone got out!

Once back by the ferry dock, I grabbed the geocache by the bus stop as Kelly went ahead to Four Pines to secure a spot on the deck. We ordered some appetizers and a cold drink. It was so good we ordered more!

I checked the ferry schedule and we decided to grab the 1:15 back to Circular Quay... once again super easy and no waiting. We sat up front outside and enjoyed the ride back. We passed a huge sailboat and I managed to get some video of it.

Great views from here as we head back to the ship!

Back at the Qauy, we wandered back towards the ship and stopped for a few photo ops along the way. It never gets old!

Back onboard the ship just before 2 p.m. and we headed up to the pool deck to enjoy a dip and a drink. We had purchased the beverage package for this cruise but in hindsight probably not economical as Elite level passengers. Oh well we will forge ahead... drinks please!

We enjoyed the pool (and drinks) and then went down to prep for dinner. As back to back cruisers, we had a 50% dinner discount option at any specialty restaurant so we elected to go back to Eden. Avis and George also joined us in this deal!

We watched as the ship slipped out of the harbour and later as the pilot boat came by to do a pickup once we were clear of the channel.

Off to dinner at it was excellent! We also celebrated George's upcoming birthday with a delicious piece of "cake"!

Birthday cake.

We stopped at the casino on the way back and had a bit of fun in there. Also had a look at this bottle of Macallen but it was just out of my price range :-)

As we head east towards New Zealand, we will be changing our clocks ahead each sea day until we arrive in the Bay of Islands on the 9th of November.

Exhausted.. off to the rack!

It's a weird one as we arrive home before we leave Sydney... with the time change that is:-)  Up early as I hit the shower and then did...
