Up early at 5 a.m. as we wanted to see the ship slip into Sydney Harbour. Some spectacular views as we went by the Sydney Opera House.
After we docked, Kelly went up and grabbed coffees while I showered up. We switch cabins to 9116 which is one deck up and on the opposite side of the ship. They will move all our bags etc. over while we disembark and spend some time in Sydney.
We headed upstairs for some breakfast and made a pit stop at Fine Cut Steakhouse to pick up our new sea pass cards for our return later in the day.
A quick bite in the buffet and then we headed down to the room to grab our backpacks, tip the room attendant Montong and move our items from the safe up to the safe in Room 9116. It was already made up but we just dropped the items into the safe and headed out to deck 5 to leave the ship.
Wandered The Rocks area with its beautiful old style buildings. We grabbed a flat white and then walked through the stalls. It was a bit early in the day so they were just setting up.
We walked over to the circular quay and bought some stamps for the postcards Kelly had filled out for the wee ones back home.
Hey there’s a tram!! Let’s tap on and go down to our familiar stores in the city center. The ones with bottles of Squealing Pig Wine two for $30! Cole’s & yarn stores. A quick tap on with our credit cards and we were on our way towards shops by the QVB. (Queen Victoria Building)
Kelly mailed off some postcards and then we headed over to Meyer to purchase some new sandals. (Black ones were required). Some additional health care items as my head cold is getting worse. I grabbed Kelly’s wine order as she checked the yarn shop next door. Last stop was snacks at Coles and we hopped on the tram for our return to the Circular Quay. A short walk over to the ship and, after skipping the check in line, we cleared security and stepped onboard at 11:30 a.m.
We took the time to unpack our bags and get sorted. The room is basically the mirror opposite to our last cabin with the only change being the bed is at the balcony end of the room. We will survive! A quick FaceTime call from Rory & Harper to check up on their Nana and Bubba.
I had a lay down for a bit as Kelly people watched all the arriving passengers from our balcony. Lunch time was almost over but we went down to the special lunch for the continuous cruisers in Normandie.
Back at the cabin I crashed on the bed as Kelly continued to watch the throng of passengers arrive.
Once awake, we got changed into dinner attire and headed off to Eden for cocktail hour. The weather for our departure was rain so we watched the action from inside the wraparound windows in Eden.
A different crowd is onboard with more younger people and kids as well. No sign of George & Avis so we went to the Martini Bar to check out the live music there. We sat behind the band and enjoyed the music.
Dinner time was fast approaching so we headed to Eden and did finally meet up with our friends. We were seated at a lovely table right at the rear off the ship with a panoramic view outside. The dinner was delicious and we had a great chat of all things family.
We finally finished at 9:30 and we then went for some blackjack in the casino. It was fun and we did well this evening. Grabbed a water and we were off to the rack.
Sea day tomorrow.
